Spotlight on the Stalking Dog –
Spotlight on Bridport’s Favourite Sculpture
A spotlight was switched on this week as Bridport Town Council draws attention to the Stalking Dog sculpture on Palmers Fish pass. With the co-operation of Palmers Brewery, help of local lighting specialist, Shelley James and equipment provided free of charge by Southampton based Commercial Lighting the new spotlight throws some seasonal illumination on Greta Berlins much loved sculpture.
In the autumn the Town Council consulted local residents about the Bridport Sculpture Trail. Feedback from over 120 responses was universally positive. People were able to vote for their favourite sculpture and the Stalking Dog located on the weir by Palmers Brewery came out as a resounding winner with 65% of respondents selecting it as their favourite.
Dr Shelley James, of Age of Light Innovation Ltd, devised the lighting scheme and brought on board Howard Lawrence, Sales Director with of Commercial Lighting to provide the hi-tech low energy lights. Palmers Brewery were happy to help with the installation in recognition of the high level of local interest in the sculpture.
The Stalking Dog will be illuminated between 16.00 and 20.00 until the New Year.
