Mayor’s Blog – Bridport Green Route
Bridport Green Route
A wonderful circular walk around Bridport has recently been established – Bridport Green Route.
The new Bridport Green Route has been developed by Bridport Town Council with input from volunteers from local health and access groups, who kindly gave their time to help research the easy going walking trail that takes in many of the valuable green spaces that define our town.
The creation of the Bridport Green Route could not be more timely; warmer weather and the easing of the Covid19 lockdown means that we, the residents of Bridport and our visitors, can take advantage of the trail for daily our exercise or to simply explore some the many special green spaces within the town.
A few days ago I took the opportunity to explore the Bridport Green Route and what a treat it turned out to be. Because it is a circular walk you can join it at any point and just keep going in a clockwise or anticlockwise direction until you reach your start point again. For a detailed account of my walk click the download button below.
Future plans for the Green Route include:
- An official opening followed by a mass (social distanced) walk.
- The installation of five original sculptures produced by local artists, to provide even more incentive to get out and about.
Bridport Town Council would like to acknowledge support for producing a promotional leaflet provided by the Dorset AONB Sustainable Development Fund.
I encourage everyone to take the opportunity to enjoy the Bridport Green Route.
