Rescued Car Boot Sale

Rescued Car Boot Sale Set to Support Local Groups

Bridport Town Council is managing the West Bay Car Boot Sale and grants are now to be awarded from funds raised in pitch fees.

The car boot sale runs on Sunday mornings at West Bay Road Car Park, and was saved from closure by Bridport Town Council in 2018.  The pitch fees paid by sellers make up an annual grants fund that is open to community and voluntary groups benefiting one or more of the parishes of Allington, Askerswell, Bothenhampton & Walditch, Bradpole, Bridport, Burton Bradstock, Char Valley, Charmouth, Chideock, Litton Cheney, Loders, Netherbury, Powerstock & North Poorton, Puncknowle & Swyre, Shipton Gorge, Symondsbury and Upper Marshwood Vale.

Town Council Leader Cllr Dave Rickard said “We’re very proud to have saved the car boot sale from closure, as it’s a popular weekly event in the summer and a great way of supporting local good causes.  The Council absorbs the cost of running the boot sale, which means all of the money raised is available for grants.”

This year’s fund is approaching £14,000 in total and applications can now be made to the Council, with maximum grant awards expected to be in the region of £500.  Guidance and application forms are available at https://www.bridport-tc.gov.uk/services/annual-grants/, or from the Town Council offices (Mountfield, Rax Lane) or Bridport Tourist Information Centre (Bucky Doo Square), or by phone on 01308 456722.  The closing date for applications is 5pm on 20 December 2019.

A panel of local councillors will decide on the grant awards, which will be paid in March 2020.
