Bridport Hat Festival, Saturday Programme

Bucky Doo Square

      • 9am. Mass-hatted keep fit with Luke Hayter. Just turn up and wear a hat!
      • 10 am. Mayor’s welcome in Bucky Doo Square.
      • 10.05am – 1pm. ‘The Pop Club Stage’ will feature young musicians from Beaminster, Dorchester and Weymouth Pop Clubs, and solo acts and duos from amongst the members.
      • 10am – 4pm. Hat & Millinery Trade Stands in The Hat Market in Bridport Arts Centre.
      • 10am – 4pm. Hat & Craft stands plus a Display of entries for the Milliners & Hatters Open Competition, in the Town Hall.
      • 10am – 4pm. Pop-up bands, buskers and street entertainment throughout town.
      • 10am – 1pm. On-street short listing of the ‘Fun’ Hat Competitions from amongst the general public in Bucky Doo Square & the Millennium Green.
      • 12am-3pm. Music in the Bridport & West Dorset Club.
      • 1pm – 1.30pm. MASS HATTED PHOTO in Bucky Doo Square.
      • 1.30pm – 2pm. Judging and prize giving for the ‘fun’ Hat Competition: Best Lady’s, Best Gentleman’s, Best Boys’, Best Girls’, Best Hatted Family Group and the Most Elegantly Hatted Couple,
      • 2pm -5pm. ‘The Pop Club Stage’ will feature young musicians from Beaminster, Dorchester and Weymouth Pop Clubs, and solo acts and duos from amongst the members.
      • 5pm – 5.15pm. Judging of the Best Hat & Millinery Trade Stand Display at the Town Hall, prize donated by Brain Tumour Research.
      • 5.15pm – 6pm. Final judging and prize-giving of the Milliners & Hatters Open Competition, at the Town Hall.

Borough Garden

      • 10.15am – 11am. Keep Fit with Luke Hayter
      • 11am – 12noon. Songs and story telling with “Snake Oil”
      • 12noon – 12.45pm. A performance by Bridport’s “No Limits” performing arts organisation

The Bull Hotel

      • 11am – 12noon. “It’s all about hats!” A talk by Roger Snook
      • 12.15 – 2.45pm “What to do with pre-made Sinamay shapes: stylish hats for a profit!”  A course presented by Denise Innes-Spencer of the British School of Millinery. For more information click here
      • 6pm. Cocktails and Fascinators in the Venner Bar, Bull Hotel.

Millennium Green

      • 10am – 2pm. Music at Millennium Green with local folk bands
      • 10am – 12.45pm. The Bridport Hat Hurling Challenge prizes at 12.45pm.
      • 11am – 12noon. Best Hatted Dog Competition (sponsored by Animal House) – all entries get a treat!
      • 2pm – 4pm. A concert with St Swithun’s Brass Band

South Street

      • 8am – 4pm. Bridport Market, throughout the town centre.
      • 11.00 – 11.30am. Children’s Story Time at the Library.
      • 7.30pm – 11pm. Bridport Ceilidh at St Mary’s Hall.

West Street

      • 9:15pm. Ropemakers Arms, West Street, Music – Free Entry

St Michael’s Estate

      • 10am – 5pm. The Art & Vintage Quarter at St Michael’s Trading Estate.

Bridport Arts Centre

      • 9pm – 1am. We invite you to Beat Safari @ the Arts Centre for the Official Hat Festival Fringe Event. Get ready for a night of fabulous dancing music from around the world. From Reggae and Latin to Balkan Gypsy beats and Electro Blues. Something for everyone and you can leave your HAT on!
