Bridport Community Charter Fair 2024

It’s still January, but Bridport is looking forward to spring with our annual Community Charter Fair. This year it will take place on 18th May 2024.

The partnership between Bridport Town Council and the Charter Fair Committee has proved so successful that the event is back for 2024.

A free family event, the 2024 Bridport Community Charter Fair is based at Millennium Green, Mountfield and in Bucky Doo Square.

Stand bookings will open very soon and groups are advised to book early to avoid disappointment as the event is very likely to be over subscribed.

A lot of work is currently going on behind the scenes to produce a full and exciting line-up of musical talent and event organisers are doing their best to fit everyone in.

With costs rising, the much-needed sponsorship of £1,200 has now been received from Countryside Partnerships and Barratt David Wilson Homes.

Ben Winchester, Regional Technical Director for Countryside Partnerships South West Commented;  “Supporting the Bridport Community Charter Fair is a great opportunity for us to demonstrate our continuing commitment to the local community; as a business we are always committed to support the communities in which we operate and the people who live in those communities. An event like this is an opportunity to meet and inspire people who are considering a career in construction and provide information to local people on the homes coming soon to their area.”

The Fair celebrates both the granting of Bridport’s Market Charter over 700 years ago in recognition of the Town’s rope-making industry, and Bridport’s Citizens’ Charter, reflecting the principles of 1998 Human Rights Act, and confirming Bridport becoming the U.K.’s first Rights Respecting Town in 2018.

Further details relating to the programme, a planned extension of the Children’s Area, and the recipients of the Charter Fair Trophy and “Above and Beyond” annual awards will be published at a later date.
