Event Details

A creative response to the Sanctuary Rope & Net Collection by Artist in Residence Carrie Mason

Admission included in museum entry (£5 – this is a one year pass)

Carrie Mason is a British Artist living on the Isle of Portland, working across drawing, sculpture & printmaking. She holds an MA and BA in Fine Art from the Arts University Bournemouth.

This exhibition shows Carrie’s response to the Sanctuary Rope & Net Collection researched during her residency at Bridport Museum in 2025. This residency forms part of her Time & Twine project supported by an Arts Council England Developing Your Creative Practice Grant during which she is exploring rope as a three-dimensional line with the aim of “taking drawing off the page” and learning basketry techniques to make sculptures.

Her quiet, intensive work uses repetitive actions to make drawings and transform materials. She enjoys being “hands on” with materials and finds the physicality of making is an essential antidote to living in an increasingly digital age where so much of life is experienced virtually through a screen.
