‘The act of drawing is one of our most ancient and universal forms of communication and expression. During this workshop we will celebrate how each of us is inherently creative and has a unique style and approach to making art. Using natural form as inspiration we will create a space for curiosity and wonder together’

Participants will use and experiment with a variety of materials including graphite, charcoal, Chinese brush, ink and reed pens. Poetry and sound will be woven into our learning to inspire a sensory and imaginative approach to our subject. The class will be followed by a six week course in February. Many participants choose to continue throughout the year so there is always a sense of warmth and welcome within the group. No previous artistic experience is necessary.

Dubbed ‘the poet of our time’ Samantics is a one man wall of sound with his unique blend of live, multi-instrumental spoken word.

It is hard-hitting, musical poetry, with a sprinkle of hip-hop. With a loopstation and a shed load of instruments, Samantics delivers a refreshing and heartfelt sound. With more energy than a ferret after 18 shots of espresso, the effort and concentration he puts in to his live shows leaves audiences transfixed.

Samantics is one to watch!

Samantics is an advocate for Mental Health and uses his music to express his own experiences and inform others to try and reduce the stigma many still face today. He has spoken at The Houses of Parliament to show how music and the arts can impact mental health. Since stepping onto the scene with his trusty loop pedal in 2015, Samantics has taken huge strides. He is now filling festival tents (including Glastonbury Festival, Bearded Theory & Beautiful Days) and has supported the likes of The Sugar Hill Gang, Sound of the Sirens, The Undercover Hippy and Goldie Lookin’ Chain. He was recently awarded ‘Best Solo Male – South West’ in the LWM Awards

Edgar Wright’s psychological thriller about a young girl, passionate in fashion design, who is mysteriously able to enter the 1960s where she encounters her idol, a dazzling wannabe singer.

But 1960s London is not what it appears, and time seems to fall apart with shady consequences…

This glamorous triptych was inspired by Balanchine’s visit to the famous jeweler Van Cleef & Arpels on New York’s Fifth Avenue, and created as an homage to the cities and dance schools of Paris, New York and St. Petersburg that made a vital impact on the revered choreographer’s career.

Emeralds for the elegance and sophistication of Paris, rubies for the speed and modernity of New York, and diamonds for an imperial St. Petersburg.

Three sparkling scenes accompanied by the music of three essential composers, feature the styles of the three dance schools that have contributed to making George Balanchine a legend of modern ballet.

Regarded as ‘Britain’s greatest living playwright’ (Times), Tony and Academy Award-winner Tom Stoppard’s critically acclaimed new play Leopoldstadt is a passionate drama of love, family and endurance.

At the beginning of the 20th century, Leopoldstadt was the old, crowded Jewish quarter of Vienna, Austria. But Hermann Merz, a factory owner and baptised Jew now married to Catholic Gretl, has moved up in the world.

We follow his family’s story across half a century, passing through the convulsions of war, revolution, impoverishment, annexation by Nazi Germany and the Holocaust.

A company of 40 actors represent each generation of the family in this epic, but intimate play.

Filmed live on stage in London’s West End, ‘Tom Stoppard’s masterpiece is magnificent’ (Independent) and should not be missed.

Come along to Bridport’s famous Ropemakers Pub for an evening of folk music and song sessions.

Every fourth Thursday of the month, the October session will have an Irish influence.

Come along and enjoy, or take part and play and/or sing!

Sometimes an angel choir. Sometimes a chainsaw screaming through raw flesh. The Clash mating with Johnny Cash. Lady Winwood’s Maggot have been storming the south for many years with their unique style of Death Western.

Fusing traditional American and Irish music with self-written songs and presenting them with an old-school punk attitude. Banjo, Mandolin and Acoustic Guitar are backed with thunderous Drums and Bass.

This is a band who believes in putting on a show, with their own full scale lighting rig, stage attire and presence they bring to the audience an energetic and absorbing performance.

Jim Reynolds is a guitarist and singer who writes and plays an eclectic mix of music. The individual pieces tap into blues, ragtime, rhythm and blues, music hall and folk traditions. Some are extremely sensitive songs about life, people and relationships, while others are tongue in cheek. His albums are also sprinkled with classics from the likes of J.J. Cale, Nick Drake, John Martyn, Roy Orbison, the Inkspots, Jelly Roll Morton and Jimmy Rogers.

The Golden Cap Association (West Dorset) was founded in 1978 and has over 375 members, and organises illustrated talks on the last Monday of the month.
