As well as welcoming the Tour of Britain to Dorset for the first time, West Bay and Bridport boast many other attractions. Here is a selection of great things to do when you are in our lovely corner of Dorset.
WEST BAY DISCOVERY CENTRE
A treasure trove of activities, stories and information, West Bay Discovery Centre is also multi-award winning. Find out about historical and current life in West Bay with our child-friendly interactive displays, pop-up exhibitions and guided trail leaflets.
GO TO THE BEACH!
West Bay has three beaches – East Beach and two at West Beach. West Beach is recommended for children, as East Beach has areas with steep slopes and has a life guard service in the summer months. Some parts of the beaches are shingle and some are sand. Please stay away from the cliffs though – they are unstable.
TAKE THE SOUTH WEST COAST PATH
The South West Coast Path passes through West Bay and there are some excellent walks towards Burton Bradstock (eastbound) or westbound towards Seatown and Golden Cap (the highest point on the South Coast), over the famous Jurassic Coast cliffs.
The walk to Burton Bradstock is classed as easy, while the one to Golden Cap is moderate to challenging. The walks reward you with unparalleled views.
