A taxi driver recounts an epic encounter with a young woman and her two small children as they travel cross country to buy a horse.
As the odyssey unfolds and the woman’s plight becomes known, the taxi driver must decide whether to get the job done or act like a decent human being. But, as he battles to tell his tale against the backdrop of an ever-ringing phone, it becomes apparent that he has become far more involved in the lives of his passengers than he ever intended.
Based on a true story, writer and performer Dan Gaisford took inspiration from his own experience as a taxi driver to inform the creative process of RANK. It’s a story about mental health, working-class men and how we interact with each other as humans in modern society.
