Event Details

Bridport’s definitive film festival celebrating the art of literary adaptation.

This year’s guest curator will be Screenwriter and Director, Rebecca Lenkiewicz.

SHARP AND SWEET: SHORT FILM EVENT
SHORT FILMS WITH REBECCA AND SPECIAL GUESTS :
A LOCAL FILMMAKERS NETWORK EVENT

Curator Rebecca Lenkiewicz and her guests – cinematographer Christopher Blauvelt and documentary maker Simon Chambers – screen a selection of handpicked short films before a Q&A.

Christopher has recently worked with Rebecca on her directorial film debut; Hot Milk and his acclaimed cinematography includes films with Kelly Reichardt  (2016 Certain Women, 2019 Showing Up, 2022 First Cow), last year’s May December with Todd Haynes and Autumn de Wilde’s adaptation of Emma in 2020. When not away on location he enjoys making music videos (especially for punk bands) as well as short films back home in LA; including Birthday, his mesmerising 14 minute story about a seemingly bland man who has a secret alien roommate (who loves pizza)…

Simon will bring a documentary selection to the mix before his later feature screening of Much Ado About Dying, the touching portrait of his frail but ever charismatic shakespeare-loving uncle David.

Christopher Blauvelt’s Birthday is one of the many brilliant films in this unique compilation of shorts. This will be a unique and fascinating screening event and carry on the conversation with Rebecca, Christopher and Simon after the screening and Q&A.
