Bridport at Arms is the latest temporary exhibition from The Keep Military Museum in Dorchester, in partnership with Bridport Museum.
Bridport at Arms is the latest temporary exhibition from The Keep Military Museum in Dorchester, in partnership with Bridport Museum. The exhibition tells the story of the local volunteer movement, from the late 1700’s, and onto the modern battlefield. Discover how the people of Bridport stepped forward in time of crisis, taking up arms to defend the town, county and country over the last 230 years.
Originally formed through threat of French Invasion, Bridport volunteers found themselves serving all over the world, from the sands of Mesopotamia to the crossing of the Rhine, and beyond. Uncover the stories of bravery, tragedy and how these experiences have shaped the town through history.
The Bridport at Arms exhibition is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to curate and present the exhibition at Bridport Museum.
