Bridport Fashion Revolution: Talk: Corsets past, present and future

In Bridport we are lucky to have not one – but two! – expert corset makers. This evening event with drinks and networking will be an opportunity to learn from Leila Scriven and Sarah Fraser about:

– the history of the corset,
– the contemporary world of corset-making and wearing,
– the practice and process of making both historical and contemporary corsets
– why some of the popular myths about corsets are just that – myths!

Leila and Sarah will be bringing examples of their work for you to look at – and perhaps even try on.

Ticket price includes drinks and nibbles before and after the talk.

About our speakers

Leila Scriven is a dressmaker and tailor with a special interest in historical costuming. She posts about her work at @shesewsontheseashore.

Sarah Fraser is a dressmaker and designer who specialises in bespoke corsetry made from recycled fabrics. Her website is https://sassdesigns.co.uk/

Timings
Doors open at 6.30 for drinks and mingling, the talk will start at 7pm. We will aim to finish with the formal presentations and Q&A by 8pm, to allow time for everyone to have a look at, and even try on, Sarah and Leila’s corsets.
