It is difficult to imagine the emotional power that bells exerted, their capacity to summon people together, to structure time and space in society. Still today, bell-ringing is considered an essential element of the quintessential English landscape, or soundscape, and a central part of local celebrations and performances.
In this exciting project led by Amanda Crabtree of artconnexion, Orlando Gough, composer, and David Ward, artist, bring together music, words, art and bells rung by our very own bell-ringers, for a most unusual event which also acts as a launch for the book, A Sculpture that Sings published by Little Toller, which will be available for sale.
