Apple Day Sunday 22nd October 12 noon - 4pm Shipton Gorge Apple Day is a celebration of everything to do with apples
Sunday 22nd October
12 noon – 4pm
Apple Day is a celebration of everything to do with apples and nature. It is a great community event in Shipton Gorge where all the organisations in the village come together with lots of activities held in the village hall, St Martin’s Church and the Orchard. It is organised by Shipton Gorge Heritage, a small charity that looks after the Community Orchard and a small native Woodland in the village. There is free entry and there are lots of free activities, games and competitions especially for children, making it a great start to the half term holiday. Among the free things for children to do this year are – Apple obstacle course, Apple pressing, Bug house building, Apple printing on cotton bags that you can take home, Design your own pressed leaf picture, Cut the longest apple peel competition and a Treasure hunt around the village. Ploughman’s lunches will be available on the day with Apple puddings for dessert and they can all be accompanied by cider available from the West Milton Cider Company who will also be offering cider tastings. There will also be a Produce stall, home made Toffee apples, Name the owl competition, Tombola and various other stalls – so something for all the family and a great family day out in our lovely village. Come along and join the fun you,lol be sure of a warm welcome !
