Last year, 21-year-old Archie Rowell decided he wanted to run the 96-mile Jurassic Coast in one go in aid of the Campaign Against Living Miserably. Setting himself the goal of raising £10,000 for the suicide prevention charity, he set out on a 6-month training regime looking to run the coastline during the Summer of 2023.
Alongside fellow Dorset-based filmmaker Elliot Millson, they documented the journey from start to finish, but what Archie didn’t realise is that for the run itself, he had chosen the one weekend that would hold the worst weather seen in 2023. Venturing through hail storms, hallucinations and 96 miles of hell, it began to seem like this feat of endurance was not going to be possible this time around… this was until the people he was doing it all for joined him at Mile 40 to assist him in conquering the coast.
This was a run for the boys.
Over 75% of suicides are men and suicide itself is the biggest killer of men under 50.
Join us on Tuesday 30th June where 96 MILES, the short documentary (15mins) will premiere at Bridport Arts Centre alongside a Q+A with Archie and the team. The film follows the training process, includes an interview with Simon Gunning (CEO of CALM), conversations with the people Archie ran it all for, as well as documenting the 36-hour run itself!
A film about hope and comedically exploring what it takes to keep going, 96 MILES highlights the love we have for those around us, as well as those we’ve lost in the past that never truly leave our side.
Ticket sales will be donated to Archie’s JustGiving fundraiser for CALM.
