Help Our Planet ART & BOOK SALE

At 12 noon on Saturday, 14^th December 2024 we are launching the first of our art sales where well-known local artists and residents have donated some of their paintings to the project.

The event will be hosted by The Lord Nelson Hotel, East Street, Bridport.  Anne Rickard, Bridport’s Mayor and her husband David will be opening the gallery on Help Our Planet’s behalf.

It has been greatly encouraging, touching even, that many local artists have so willingly donated their paintings to this small venture.  Based on the artists’ conservative valuation of their paintings, the Lord Nelson exhibition could potentially raise thousands of pounds. There seems to be a good chance that ventures of this kind in Bridport will succeed and hopefully spread beyond West Dorset benefiting projects for environmental conservation and the cultural life of the town.

Artists include Francis Hatch, Philippa Grier, Peter Hitchin, Mart Tebbs, Ralph Steadman, Russel Coulson, Gerry Dudgeon, Clare Hawkes.

We also have a sale on books by highly acclaimed Amazonian specialists including Professor Philip Howse (OBE) FRES (Emeritus Professor Biological Studies Southampton University) and Professor Sir Ghillean Prance (Former Director of the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew).

Books and art will be available to view/purchase daily from then until mid/end of January 2025.
