The Bridport Environment Group is an influential local community group with an interest in environmental and planning issues.  It meets every 2-3 months at the town council offices at Mountfield, Rax Lane, Bridport. Meetings are open to members of the Bridport Area community.

The Bridport Environment Group was set up in 2001 to initiate and support environmental projects within the geographical area of the Bridport Market and Coastal Towns Initiative (later the Bridport Community Initiative). In May 2005, following closure of the BCI, the Group adopted its own constitution. The Group is a member of the Steering Group of the Bridport Local Area Partnership (BLAP).

The Group acts as a voice on environmental issues, in the local planning process and on infrastructure and transport proposals.

The Group has responded formally to a number of national, regional and local consultations on environmental issues and policy.  The Group comments regularly on local planning applications, and continues to take a close interest in proposals to redevelop Bridport’s South West Quadrant.

Membership of the Group is open to all members of the Bridport area community and costs £1 per annum (£5 for organisations).

The Group meets several times a year and notice of meetings will be posted on this site.  Meetings are open to all members of the community. Officers: Chair, Charles Wild ; Secretary, Eileen Harding; Treasurer, Vince O’Farrell.
