Seiners & Quarry Paths | Oxenburys Yard | Friday 27 & Sat 28 November
Price range: £10.00 through £16.00
An atmospheric show that evokes memory of place in ghosted voices of the traditional Purbeck and Portland quarries and stone yards, and the seine fishing crews on Chesil beach. The memories transcend time and come alive in the retelling of words, music and film, to speak about community, resilience and relationship to landscape and coast.
Friday night will feature electronic night with musician and composer Julie Macara on synth with films by Adrian Cooper.
Julie has composed the music specifically in response to Sarah Acton’s poems, creating a close relationship between voice and sound. Recorded elements unfold alongside live electronic textures, rhythms and atmospheric vocals, creating an evolving musical landscape around the spoken word.
Saturday night will feature cello music by Sarah Burridge with films by Adrian Cooper.
Emily and Sarah share a common passion for sea and land, resulting in a haunting multitracked cello soundscape and dialogue between voice and cello.
There will be an interval with optional chats / Q&A after and mingling

Oxenburys Yard, Gundry Lane, Bridport, DT6 3RL

Seiners and Quarry Paths
An atmospheric show that evokes memory of place in ghosted voices of the traditional Purbeck and Portland quarries and stone yards, and the seine fishing crews on Chesil beach. The memories transcend time and come alive in the retelling of words, music and film, to speak about community, resilience and relationship to landscape and coast.
Audiences say that the stories and characters feel familiar, moving and resonate. These communities and heritages connect the past to the present and to the ecological future of our natural environment. The production was funded through Arts Council England grants and
created in residencies at Sandy Hill Arts and Sanctuary at Lighthouse Poole. These two special shows are supported by a residency at Oxenburys Yard to develop and present in Bridport.
