In the news today…..

“Dorset Coast Forum’s teamed up with the Safewise charity and have come up with a new film in a bid to keep us safe.

The animated three minute movie will highlight all the dangers which come with visiting beaches and taking walks along the cliff.

At the end of last month, coastguards in Dorset had to tell three families to take their young children away from unstable cliffs in West Bay.

Some had been climbing on the recent rock fall on East Beach looking for fossils.

At the time Coastguards said with all the recent heavy rain washing away the sandstone and mud, it wouldn’t take a lot for a boulder to be dislodged.

Forum Project Assistant Sophie Frank told Wessex FM,

“We’ve collated all the safety information about the coast from the National Trust, The RNLI, Visit Dorset, Safewise, Maritime Coastguard Agency and have put it into this animation which we hope lots of people will watch”

“We have a lot of people coming to Dorset who are not aware of those dangers so we want to reach as many people as possible and to get the messages out there.”
