Join us on the Afternoon of Saturday 21st of June at the Bottle Inn for World Nettle Eating competition with live music, food, cider & beers.

GROWING
Entries for the longest nettle to be grown within a ten-mile radius of Bottle Inn DT6 5QJ, to be delivered by 6pm on Friday 20th June for measurement.
The winner will be announced after the nettle eating competition.

EATING
Limited to forty competitors; register to secure your place.
All must arrive by 4.30pm on Saturday and are to sign a disclaimer before competing.

The competition will start at 5.00pm and will last for one hour, during which participants will consume the leaves of as many two-foot lengths of stinging nettle as possible.

SPECTATORS
£5 gate fee on first entry for over-16s includes access to the festival over the weekend and a commemorative ‘glass’ with a token worth half-pint (or equivalent).
Children under sixteen accompanying adults admitted free.

A large selection of cask ales and ciders will be on sale (wine and soft drinks also available).

Catering vans will be on site.

Live music will be performed at intervals between Friday afternoon and Sunday lunchtime.

Space is limited; please share transport if possible.

  1. Ideally I would like to feature the World nettle eating competition in a presentation regarding unusual pastimes but to do so require a number of photos that are not copyright or licence protected, which all reasonable ones on google are.
    Therefore would it be possible to provide any or suggest where I may obtain copies freely and legally available.

      Thank you for contacting us.

      The event at Dorset Nectar has been cancelled, however The Bottle Inn (the home of the competition for several years) will be hosting this year.
