Event Details
Gadarene blend obscure traditional English tunes, virtuoso acoustic musicians, funky beats and loads of energy.
They create a sophisticated and exciting performance, drawing on many diverse musical influences, yet making a sound that is all their own.
The band’s mission is to take little known dance tunes of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries and get audiences dancing to them again. These amazing tunes tie together arrangements drawing on Pop, Rock, Funk, Reggae, Electronica and Club Trance. This leads to a sound which is sophisticated enough for seated audiences and wild enough for audiences who want to dance.
“Gadarene came back to Purbeck Festival by public demand. Intricate rhythms, instrumental virtuosity and great fun. Utterly brilliant!”
-Paul Burke, organiser of Purbeck Folk Festival
Quinns Quinney – Dorset’s favourite skiffle band!
Who are we?
We are a band, a big noisy band. We like to hit things that ought not be hit. We like to blow on things that ought not be blown. We like to play silly songs in a serious way and serious songs in a silly way, but most of all we love a good kip in a chair.
What do we sound like?
Imagine putting a mandolin, a double bass and an acoustic guitar inside a washing machine. Throw in a tambourine, a kazoo, a pint of cider and put it on a 90 minute hot-wash cycle. Hang the lot out to dry on a summer’s evening in rural Dorset and you’ll get a rough idea of how we sound.
