Event Details

Chesil Rocks 2017 will be taking place on Saturday 24th June, and will be held at Higher Farmhouse, Langton Herring. The line-up will be performing this year on three stages and will include a great variety of music, comedy, theatre and storytelling from Dorset and beyond. Almost the longest day of the year, gates will open at 11am and the event will run until Midnight.

We are very proud to be supporting Samaritans of Dorset again. Last year we raised over £8000 for this crucial charity – a quarter of their entire budget. Suicide remains the leading cause of death of men in under 50 and is a leading cause of death in mothers of young children and in young children generally. This needs to change and with your help it can. As Chesil Rocks is not a commercial event, and due to our generous sponsors, the tickets, food and drinks are all keenly priced. We plan to have brilliant activities for children too, including face painting, a treasure hunt and storytelling.

Appearing on the stages will be a number of great bands and musicians, and we are delighted to welcome to Chesil Rocks for the first time Devon based folk-punk sensations The Leylines, the London Gay Man’s Chorus, Manchester based XTALK and popular local band the Mad Hatters. We shall also be welocming back the WTF Band – effectively a Dorset Supergroup featuring Robbie McIntosh, Steve Wilson, Lee Worsley, Mick Taylor and Lucy Broddle; the Million Dollar dash, Slipstream, the C Sharp Blues Band, Seren and the Portesham Ukulele Band and stand-up comedy hosted by Tom Glover. Wandering around the site and performing will be the Half Eight Quartet and Jenny Moon will be storytelling for people of all ages.

Those wishing to attend should be aware that Chesil Rocks has a strict 500 person capacity and we have sold out in each of the last four years.

The food outlets will be similar to previous years with freshly made pizzas for Dorset Woodfired Pizza, gourmet burgers from Poundbury based Brace of Butchers and Veggie/Vegan and fish options. Also available will be freshly brewed coffee, cream teas from Samaritans and delicious ice creams.

We’ll have an amazing bar, with real ale and cider fresh from the barrel, wine and soft drinks all at reasonable prices. This year there will also be pimms and a cocktail bar.
