Event Details

Boilerhouse is a five-piece a cappella group rooted in the Cornish singing tradition but following a path less travelled. Drawing on an eclectic range of influences to include folk songs, American Sacred Harp, gospel and arrangements of Cornish poems, the result is a diverse repertoire rarely heard elsewhere.

Originally formed with a view to keeping the old traditional Cornish carols alive in Newlyn and Penzance, Boilerhouse then decided to continue year-round with a wider repertoire. They have appeared on Radio 4, most recently on Open Country when the show visited Penzance.

Boilerhouse will be joined by Annamaria Murphy, who has written stories to accompany their gorgeous songs and atmospheric repertoire. Annamaria is a writer who has written for Kneehigh Theatre, BBC Radio 4, The Little Angel Theatre, Stuff and Nonsense amongst others. Her magical tales combine humour with insight, drawing from her long experience of writing stories, poetry and plays.
