Bridport Centre WI was started in 1917 by Mrs Ellen Ursula Holden, their first President, meeting in The Bull Hotel, East Street, Bridport.

One of its members, a Mrs Sutthill, gave land in North Street in memory of her Husband, John Sutthill, for social service. The WI Hall was later built in 1925 and is now run by four Trustees of Bridport WI, a Manager, Caretake and a Treasurer for the benefit of the community.

Bridport Centre WI hold their meetings in the hall on the first Tuesday of every month at 2:30pm. They have speakers and activities which include a thriving Craft and Lunch Club, as well as enjoying places of interest from time to time. There is something for everyone!

Bridport Centre WI celebrated its Centenary in November 2017.
