It’s beginning to feel a lot like… well, it’s not quite Christmas yet but Bridport’s plans for the festive season are well underway and there’s a lot to look forward to!
Bridport Tourist Information Centre has a huge range of Christmas Cards on sale, representing charities such as the RNLI, Alzheimer’s Society, Help for Heroes and many many more.
Groves Nurseries Christmas Extravaganza (a shoppe like no other!) is now open and on 18th November, pop down for their Christmas Extravaganza, from 4pm to 10pm where you can enjoy mince pies, punch and a selection of markets where you will find a plethora of gift ideas.
On Saturday, 20th November visit the Jurassic Art & Craft Fayre at Charmouth Heritage Centre. This one day only event will feature knitted and stitched gifts, paintings and cards, books and toys and lots lots more. Homemade cakes and preserves and other refreshments will be available.
Over at Highlands End, Eype a Makers Market will take place on Saturday, 27th November from 9.30am to 3.00pm. This will showcase local makers, bakers, growers, potters, painters, quilters, jewellery makers, photographers, artists and more, with more than 35 stalls planned. Refreshments including Costa Coffee, breakfast and hog roast baps will be available, along with a festive bar! Details here!
We are delighted to announce the return of ILLUMINATE. ‘OT Event Technicians’ will be Illuminating the Gardens in the lead up to Christmas this year. The event will run daily 4.30pm to 8.00pm from the 26th of November to the 23rd December, with last entries between 7.00pm and 7.15pm.
Pop down to St Michael’s for Late Night Shopping and Meet the Makers of Artyfacts Studios- Open until 7pm on Thursday 2nd Dec, Thursday 9th Dec and Thursday 16th Dec with Mince Pies and Wine. They are at 40, St. Michael’s Lane, Bridport.
To start with, there will be three Christmas Markets, every Saturday in December (apart from Christmas Day!). So put the 4th, 11th and 18th December in your diary for these festive markets.

As well as the Bridport Festive Markets, our friends in Symondsbury will be celebrating with an extended Christmas Market, this will be a two day event, from 11am to 6pm on Saturday, 4th December and 11am to 4pm on Sunday, 5th December. This market will focus on products where locality, product quality and sustainability are of first and foremost importance.
There will be FREE CAR PARKING on Saturday, 4th December in Bridport Car Parks operated by Dorset Council.
On Saturday, 5th December the New Elizabethan Singers will be presenting Christmas Carols from around the world at St. Mary’s Church, Bridport. There will be free admission with a collection available.
And while there will be lots to do at Bridport Market on 4th December, there is also a Christmas Vegan Market in Dorchester, at the Borough Gardens, offering tasty hot and cold food and drinks, cakes, pastries and lots more.
On Tuesday 7th, Wednesday 8th and Thursday, 9th December, Symondsbury Estate will be offering Wreath Making Workshops. Details and booking information here.
Bridport Museum is offering late night opening on Wednesday, 8th December until 7.30pm.
On Friday, 10th December visit Bridport United Church on East Street for an evening of Folk Carols, starting at 7.00pm.
The next evening Bridport United Church will be hosting “Songs for a Sparkling Christmas” – an evening of music amongst the Christmas Trees. This starts at 7.30pm on Saturday, 11 December.

As if that wasn’t enough, Bridport will be hosting a Christmas Tree festival, at 7.00pm on 7th December at Bridport United Church. And down by the sea in West Bay there will be a Christmas Tree event.
Bucky Doo Square will again be home to our ‘big tree’ while soon, East Street, South Street and West Street will be twinkling from the festive lights, organised by Bridport Town Council.
To get you into the Festive Mood, several restaurants and cafes will be serving Festive Treats.
The Market House Inn, West Street are serving a special menu from 29th November to Christmas Eve This will include favourites like Roast Turkey as well as vegetarian options like Baked Aubergine. They will then be serving a sumptuous five-course menu on Christmas Day, priced at £85.00
The Bull Hotel, East Street will be open on Christmas Day with their indulgent four-course menu, priced at £85.00
In Beaminster, The Ollerod have annoucned their festive season menus, including Christmas Day dining.
